More mergers?

So US Airways and America West get the green light to merge. And now after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection this week, there is speculation that Delta Airlines and Northwest Airlines could become the next big merger. These two mammoth airlines fly several similar routes, so a merger could certainly open up cost saving possibilities. With skyrocketing fuel prices and mergers, could these factors drive up the cost of your tickets?
