Paying for your premium seat...in coach

The latest plan for cash-challenged Northwest Airlines is to start charging for what it considers its premium coach seats. It all started this week on flights within the United States on Northwest Airlines.

So how does it work? If you want to reserve a seat in the exit row or one of the aisle seats towards the front of the economy class cabin you can, if you are willing to fork out $15 for it. So if you want to make sure you can stretch out a little more in your coach seat you can - for a price.
