A fare hike fueled by gas prices

Unfortunately, this fare hike is not really all that surprising. United Airlines has increased its fares from $5-10 each way as a response to increased fuel costs.

And when one airline starts this, usually the rest will follow...

I can understand this kind of price hikes. Much more than those prices added by some airlines for, say, better seat locations in the same class.
