Once bitten, twice shy - pilot survives Atlantic crash landing

Wednesday June 28, 2006
There are a certain number of pilots who seem to fly farther for the adventure of flight. A pilot from Florida literally tested the North Atlantic waters recently. He was taking off from St. John's, Newfoundland and heading in his single-engine aircraft to the Azores. After a short time into the flight, he realized he was in trouble. This is when lots of resources came together to guide what would be a crash landing.

A Canadian search and rescue team guided the pilot to crash land close to a Liberian ship. The story of how he was saved in the North Atlantic is documented by the CBC.
