Yankee's Pitcher Dies in Fiery Crash

...and causes panic on 10/11. At first when the small plane hit a building in New York, there was of course the fear that there could be another terrorist attack. But as events unfolded it became clear that there was a distress signal before the deadly crash.
Yankee Cory Lidle and a flight instructor were in a 4 seater Cirrus when it crashed into the side of a high rise apartment building. Both died in the crash.
Dozens of fighter jets were sent over major U.S. cities, and Ottawa, Canada in the moments following the crash, before it could be determined that this was not a terrorist act.
