Banned and Fined

A little known fact is beginning to surface from all of the banned and confiscated items at airport screening points: not only can your items be confiscated, but you can be fined for even attempting to bring a banned item in your carry-on.

I have never encountered or witnessed fines being assessed so it was surprising to read that the TSA had handed out over $1 million in fines during 2005. These fines can be assessed if you knowingly or unknowingly try to bring a banned item through the airport security screening points.

The Chicago Tribune is one of the many news outlets reporting on the added hassles of air travel - potential fines!

A few resources about what you can and cannot bring with you on board.

What ever happened to “due process”? I guess these clowns have the public over a barrel. If you make a fuss over the fine, they will not let you through the checkpoint, and probably label you a terorit or something. Then, of course, they call law enforcement who has no choice but to back up TSA.
