Jet Fueled Airfares

Monday November 5, 2007
oil The cost of crude oil is nearing the $100 per barrel. At the beginning of the summer it was about $75. This means a huge increase in operating costs for airlines, and that cost is beginning to be passed on to you. All of the largest US carriers have levied additional costs to their domestic airfares to try and compensate for the higher price of crude. So it isn't just you at the gas pump, paying more to fill up - it is extending to the price you pay for your airline tickets.

Certainly, this doesn't mean that all great airfare specials will suddenly disappear. It does mean that you may pay a little more here and there for your ticket.

Rising Oil Prices = Rising Airfare Costs

I’m not sure why I’m bothering to contact you other than that I spent some time in Korea while in the army, and both like and respect the Korean people. At any rate, KAL has one of the absolute worst ads on television that I have ever seen. It’s like something that you might see on Saturday Night Live. Can’t someone talk to the corporate office and tell them that they really need to replace that silly ad?
