blood pressure cuff It's no surprise that you may not feel relaxed at the airport, that you may feel your heart pound faster, and your blood pressure rise. The fact is your blood pressure may indeed be rising.

But did you know, that even living close to an airport may increase your blood pressure? The Washington Post is reporting Airplane Noise Boosts Blood Pressure Even During Sleep. Essentially, volunteers who live near several European airports were tracked. What is quite amazing is how much the noise increased blood pressure levels - by several points.

There is an interesting true book about living in a house on the JFK flight path “Cedarhurst Alley”. It was a family home left to them when the parents died. The story tells the effect the constant noise of the airplanes pattern of taking off and landing resulting in physical and emotional destruction of the family, but particularly the children,
They try to fight to have a modification of the path but the government etc refused. There is SOME humor in the book but it’s all too real a tale.
