Airfare Specials this Week
Thursday September 18, 2008
Not a great week for air travel - again, as Ike hits hard, Alitalia slows down operations, and Excel Airways (UK) goes under. So, time to find something good - airfare specials. Here are some of the offerings this week...
Hurricane Ike ravaged a large part of Texas, and several airlines that serve the area are having a special airfare sale for travel that begins from affected parts of Texas, most often out of Houston area airports. Continental Airlines and Delta Airlines are both offering specials starting at $69. Must be booked by Friday night, September 19 and is only valid for a few weeks (travel until October 1). But some good prices, regardless.
Many times, when I've gone to Asia, I've flown into Hong Kong, Singapore, or Bangkok, and then used low cost airlines for flights within Asia for lots of flexibility. So when our About.com Guide to Hong Kong / Macau Travel alerted me to a deal between Hong Kong and Bangkok on Air Asia, I immediately thought of my own experiences - overall, pretty good, with low cost airlines in Asia. Air Asia is one of the more reputable ones, and Guide Rory Boland shares the goods on Hong Kong - Bangkok Free with Air Asia.
A pretty good fall sale from Virgin America: "Virgin America Announces the New Fall Line Up Fare Sale - "The New Season of Low Fares Makes Its Fall Debut -- From $69 SFO to LAX and $149 JFK to LAX. Travel dates into December. Must book by September 25.
Don't forget to check the Air Travel Forum - lots of airfare specials/airline promotions are listed, as are plenty of opinions!
