It's Official - Northwest and Delta are one Airline

Sunday November 2, 2008
Delta and Northwest Airlines MergerAfter months of negotiations, and contending with anti-trust immunity, two airline giants became one. Delta Airlines and Northwest Airlines will move towards using the Delta name over the coming months, and the two airlines now effectively form the largest airline in the world. Looks like I have some editing to do on my The World's Biggest Airlines and Top 10 Airlines in the United States and Canada by Passenger Numbers features.

I also wrote several articles that detailed some of the reasons for merging, and what the new airline might look like. Delta Air Lines, Northwest Airlines Set to Merge looks at items such as frequent flyer miles, labor, and financial stability. Delta has also posted an FAQ about the merger.

The lengthy, but detailed press release about the new mega-airline.
