When I think of flying cars, I'm almost immediately drawn to memories of watching the Jetsons, traveling back in forth in space in their domed vehicle. Well, back here on earth, and in current time, the dream of the flying car may be becoming a reality.
Recently, a "flying car" was tested out, and the pilot who maneuvered the small, but flight-y vehicle, spoke of its air-worthiness. You may not be able to buy a flying car and take-off from your car dealer's lot just yet, but the idea of a flying car has literally taken flight.
Information week covered the maiden flight of the flying car, and described it "...resembles a Volkswagen Beetle with wings and a propeller in the back. The Transition is capable of flying 450 miles at more than 115 mph. On the road, the front-wheel drive vehicle runs on unleaded gasoline, has a top speed of 65 mph and gets 30 miles to the gallon."
You can check out what the flying car - made by Terrafugia - looks like on their website. They have an image gallery showing all angles of this compact flying machine.
