Extra perks?

By Arlene Fleming, About.com Guide

Hooters Air set to fly

The perks of air travel - normally one thinks of frequent flyer miles, upgrades, perhaps access to executive lounges. Welcome to a new type of air travel perk - Hooters girls. Hooters Air is set to fly and bring its own brand of travel to the friendly skies!

When did service begin? - Hooters Air scheduled its entry onto the air travel scene by beginning flying on March 6, 2003. The inaugural flight transported passengers from Atlanta to Myrtle Beach, SC. Online reservations to fly on Hooters Air are available. Other routes are being added.

More about the aircraft - Hooters Air One is painted in the same orange and white colors of the Hooters chain of restaurants. The Hooters owl makes an appearance on the tail of the aircraft. All passengers sit on leather seats with a (better than industry average) standard 34 inch pitch (less cramped seating).

Do the flights have appropriate safety and security procedures? - Hooters Air is using airplanes and flight crews of Pace Airlines of Winston-Salem, NC. The flight crew will be comprised of two pilots in traditional pilot uniforms, and three experienced and qualified flight attendants who will wear khaki pants and orange Hooters Air polo shirts. Two Hooters Girls, wearing Hooters Restaurant uniforms, will round out the staff on board. The Hooters Girls will assist with food service (as permitted by FAA regulations) and are restaurant employees.

Who will fly on Hooters Air? - Hooters Air owner Robert H. Brooks has indicated that the airline will likely be popular with sports teams and sports enthusiasts.
