In a survey examining how people felt about air travel nearly a year after September 11th it was found that most travelers felt that their air travel practices were unaffected by 9/11 events, or they have returned to their previous level of comfort about flying.
- 44% stated that their feelings about flying were unaffected by the events of September 11th.
- 27.9% said they were nervous at first, but now feel the same as before 9/11.
- 15.7% of respondents still feel very nervous about flying.
- 4.1% are still too afraid to fly.
- 3.8% of those surveyed are more determined than ever to fly.
Is it safe to fly?The majority of those surveyed in the Travelocity poll feel that the level of safety is equal or better now than it was immediately following September 11th. 90% of those polled are willing to travel today.
In regards to the level of safety (now as opposed to immediately after September 11th):- 38.3% think it is safer to fly.
- 40.3% feel it is equally safe to fly now as it was before the events of September 11th.
- 19.4% feel it is less safe to fly now.
- 32.3% said they were more willing to travel now.
- 57.8% are equally willing to travel.
- 9.3% are less willing to travel now.
