Air travel attitudes by gender

There were marked differences in attitudes towards air travel after September 11th, 2001. In the case of gender, women were more likely than men to have avoided travel in the wake of the events of September 11th. A year later those differences no longer exist.

For men, the statistics compiled in the poll are as follows:

  • 20.1% avoided travel immediately after September 11th.
  • 5.1% avoid out of town travel now.
For women, September 11th shook attitudes towards travel by air:
  • 33.3% avoided travel immediately after September 11th.
  • 7.6% avoid traveling out of town now.
