Airlines react to war - Flight Schedules trimmed

  • JAL Japan Airlines - Cutting back its international flights in April because of reduced demand resulting from war.
    - Stopping direct flights to Bali for an undisclosed amount of time.
  • Swiss - Reducing service between Zurich and Cairo from six down to four weekly flights due to drastically reduced bookings.
  • Thai Airways - Arresting flight services to Bahrain and Kuwait for an undisclosed amount of time.
  • Singapore Airlines - Implementing widespread reduction in flights (65 flights per week suspended) for late March (possibly longer) because of dropping passenger demand.
    - All flights to Brussels and Madrid will be discontinued from March 30 to May 31, 2003. Frankfurt will have 2 flight frequencies removed each week from April 6 until May 31, 2003.
    - Manchester and Amsterdam also have flight reductions scheduled from early April until the end of May 2003.
    - Flights to Las Vegas and Chicago will be canceled from April 7 until the end of May 2003.
    - Reductions in flights per week are being instituted for San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York for travel until the end of May.
    - Services within Asia that are scheduled to be reduced until the end of May include: Seoul, Hong Kong, Nagoya, Fukuoka, Hiroshima, Taipei, Kaohsiung, Jakarta, Bali, Surabaya and Kuala Lumpur.
