Here is how my travel experience unfolded:
1. Check-in - I checked in 2.5 hours before my morning flight, and handed my boarding number.
2. I had a backpack (which I always place in a clear, thick plastic bag and has kept it virtually damage free) and was sent to a separate area to drop off my luggage (Uneventful, not a large backpack, but I certainly prefer the oversize belt as it tends to be a more direct route to the baggage handlers).
3. After securing access to the departure gate area, passengers waited for their numbers to be called. I shared the anticipation of being in the last group of passengers (good thing the comfortable shoes and lack of carry-on were factors in my favor).
4. When the shuttle stopped in front of the aircraft, I took on the stairs to the aircraft with vigor and ensured an aisle seat.
5. Like most low cost carriers (and some of the ones that don't claim this title), easyjet charges for their inflight dining. Whenever I travel on a low cost airline I always bring my own water and snacks.
6. The flight arrived perfectly on time in the outskirts of London.
Being an able bodied passenger, and not traveling with a group equaled a reasonable travel experience. If you don't care where you sit, easyjet's prices are great for travel within Europe. And they had a non-stop flight between Athens and London, a good option for a non-Olympic travel period.
