Messy mergers marked the earlier part of the decade. The mergers of America West with US Air (now US Airways) and Air Canada with Canadian Airlines were marred with stories of fist fights and union disputes over seniority lists that could ground an airline. KLM and Air France did it, and more recently Delta Airlines and Northwest Airlines are now one.
Even smaller airlines are getting in the act - Frontier Airlines and Midwest. Who will be next? Rumor seems to have Continental Airlines as the next one to flirt with merger.
