Air France/KLM were two separate airlines until 2004. Although they retain their original names, they are now part of one company. Prior to 2004, Air France's history as an individual airline could be traced back to 1933, while KLM's roots date from 1919

Paris is the headquarters of Air France/KLM, and CDG - Charles de Gaulle International in Paris is the principal hub of Air France, with Schiphol (Amsterdam) as the main hub for KLM.

Flying Blue is the name of the Air France and KLM frequent flyer program. They are a part of the Skyteam global alliance.
Major Crashes or Incidents:
Since merging in 2004, there has not been a crash involving fatalities. Prior to this, one of the worst crashes for Air France was in 2000 when an Air France Concorde crashed just after takeoff killing all 109 people on board and 4 on the ground. Soon after, the Concorde was retired from service. In 1977, KLM was involved in one of the worst accidents in aviation history when it collided with a Pan Am aircraft on the runway of an airport in the Canary Islands. A total of 248 people were on the KLM flight. There were no survivors
