GOL Airlines Mid-Air Collision - More Than 150 Dead

September 29th - a mid-air collision between a small aircraft, and a larger, commercial airliner occurs somewhere over the Amazon. Initially, there were remote hopes that maybe there would be survivors. There were, for those on the small plane. But the larger, carrying over 150 people did not. The smaller aircraft, an executive jet, landed safely, but damaged.

GOL Airlines has issued several notices that have created a timeline of the accident. The details in this feature are drawn from those issued statements.

September 29th - 9:50pm
GOL advises that flight 1907 left Manaus airport at 3:35pm with an estimated time of arrival in Brasilia of 6:12pm, landing not confirmed.

Flight 1907 was a Boeing 737-800, had only 200 flight hours.

149 passengers and 6 crew are confirmed to have been on board.

September 30th - 12:14am
GOL advises that the last contact with flight 1907 was at 5pm.

At 1:35am a list of passengers and crew names is published on their website.

9:27am - Wreckage from the flight is found. Still no confirmation of survivors.

October 1st, 10:17pm
The Brazilian Aeronautical Command reports that there are no survivors.

This is Brazil's worst air disaster.
