Strollers and the gate
...making the connection

By Arlene Fleming, About.com

A few words on procedures for connecting passengers with strollers...

When someone is connecting, the stroller tag either has additional spaces for the other flight information, so that it can be dropped off again after boarding the connecting aircraft, or it can be retagged at the next gate.

Many airlines have stroller tags with space for additional flights. So if I have a stroller and I am beginning out of Salt Lake City, then Denver, then Chicago O'Hare all on United, there is space for each of these flights and a bolded section for the final destination. I don't need to put the point of origin because that is where the passenger starts from... I put the flight number for Denver with its airport code DEN, and then the flight number for Chicago with its code ORD, and also place this flight number in the final destination spot on the tag.

On the tag, there is also space for the passenger's name, and sometimes the seat number.

As with passengers who do not have connections, you wait by the door of the aircraft, and a ramp agent brings the strollers to the door.

Take your time getting off of the aircraft as it does take a few minutes to get the stroller to the door of the plane. Then, stroll on over to your next flight.
