The View from Cloud 9 - Fly while you Fly
The Zero Gravity Flight

By Arlene Fleming, About.com

Ever thought of what it would feel like to float through the air, or flip and tumble without the restrictions of gravity? If you are looking for an unusual flight experience, perhaps a gift, or a different way to enjoy a romantic flight, then taking a zero gravity flight could be the unique air travel idea that may fit the bill.

What is a zero gravity flight? Basically it is the use of a specially outfitted aircraft that manipulates different speeds and altitudes to reproduce the sensation of weightlessness for brief periods of time. So you can literally fly, suspended in air, while you are flying.

Interested? The cost of weightlessness is not cheap, but it is unique. Here are some of the companies offering or organizing flights where flying is a participation sport for all passengers...

  • Zero Gravity Corp - provides the experience of weightlessness on its refitted 727 out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
  • Space Adventures is a company that organizes zero gravity flights, and gives the option of doing the flight out of Star City, Russia.
  • Xero is a Swedish company that operates zero gravity flights north of the Arctic circle in Sweden.
  • Moonpans already offers lots of space-related items for purchase, and can also book your zero gravity flight experience for you.
  • Astronomical Tours books flights with Zero Gravity Corp, and provides lots of info about what you might experience during your time of weightlessness.
