Keeping a cough or cold under control while traveling

You feel the tell-tale scratchy throat worsening, signaling the beginning of a cold. Or you are just getting back on your feet having weathered a nasty flu. Now you are flying.

You know that air travel can make mild congestion feel like a full-blown, chafe your nose, watery-eyed blockage of your entire skull experience. There is no quick cure to this problem but there are some products out there that may alleviate some of the symptoms.

Robitussin Coughgels
Robitussin has introduced cough gels that may help with the ear-popping possibilities of higher altitudes and cold symptoms. They are a good option for air travel because you get the cough medication without having to dig out a bottle and spoon for relief.

There are many varieties of hard candies with Vitamin C, which again serve as a good option for air travel to help alleviate the problem of popping ears.

Eucalyptus
Peppermint
Adding a few drops of eucalyptus or peppermint essential oils to a cold cloth and placing it over your face may help reduce the pain/discomfort of congestion that is particularly notable when flying.

Vick's Vaporub
Vick's Vaporub and similar types of products applied around the nose and on the chest may help with breathing easier.
