Trail Mix - Recipes to Pack, Fly and Snack

By , About.com Guide

A decade ago you may not have even considered bringing your own snacks on board. Now, as there are fewer options, and a lot of meal services that require you to pay on board, toting your own snacks for your flight is becoming a more popular option. No complaining about airplane food when you make and bring your own.
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups of sunflower seeds (without shells)
  • 1 cup of dried fruit - I like apricots or apples
  • 1/2 cup of shredded coconut
  • 1 cup of nuts - I like cashews or unsalted peanuts
  • 1 cup of dried cranberries or raisins
Preparation:
* you can make this more kid-friendly by replacing the dried fruit with chocolate or caramel chips
Mix all of the ingredients together and pack 1/2 cup to 1 cup's worth in resealable plastic baggies.
