EU Blacklist of Airlines

The European Union has a blacklist of airlines that are not permitted to fly into the countries of the European Union due to safety concerns. Before you fly, it may be a good idea to see what airlines are simply not considered European airport-worthy. The list does change from time to time as some airlines improve their safety records while others worsen. Recently, airlines from Indonesia were added to the list of banned.

The airlines (and the countries they are from), that are blacklisted by the European Union -

• Afghanistan - Ariana Afghan Airlines
• Angola - TAAG Angola Airlines
• Democratic Republic of the Congo - all airlines from the Congo are banned
• Equatorial Guinea - all airlines are banned
• Kyrgyzstan - the following airlines are banned: Anikay Air, Asia Alpha, Avia Traffic, Bistair-Fez Bishkek, Botir Avia, British Gulf International Airlines, Click Airways, Country International Airlines, Dames, Fab-Air, Galaxy Air, Golden Rule Airlines, Intal Avia, Itek Air, Kyrgyz Airways, Kyrgyz Trans Avia, Kyrgyzstan Altyn, Kyrgyzstan Airlines, Max Avia, OHS Avia, Reem Air, Sky Gate International Aviation, Sky Way, SunLight, Tenir Airlines, Trast Aero
• Indonesia - all airlines are banned
• North Korea - all airlines are banned
• Liberia - all airlines are banned
• Rwanda - Silverback Cargo Freighters
• Sierra Leone - all airlines are banned
• Sudan - Air West
• Surinam - Blue Wing Airlines
• Swaziland - all airlines are banned

There are several other airlines that have flight restrictions for travel into EU countries, but are not entirely banned from flying in and out of Europe.
