Saving You Money on Airfares - Aggregators
Are all Aggregators Making the Same Airfares Available to You?

By , About.com Guide

Just to test out the might of the travel aggregators, I recently compared the airfares available for three travel itineraries. The aggregators and a few of the larger online booking agencies (Travelocity, Expedia, Orbitz, Onetravel) were compared for final prices - taxes, fees, all charges included. Here is how they fared in the airfare wars...and who saves the most for the following itineraries:

* All prices are quoted in U.S. dollars to avoid currency discrepancies.

New York City to Los Angeles roundtrip - July 1-8, 2005
Aggregator fares: Cheapflights $317.55, Farechase $315.40, Kayak $278.80, Mobissimo $278.80, Qixo $346.89, Sidestep $278.80, Super Search $278.80

Travelocity $321.30, Expedia $315.60, Orbitz $317.59, Onetravel $332.90

Vancouver to Ottawa roundtrip - June 30-July 7, 2005
Aggregator fares: Cheapflights $598.40, Farechase $582, Kayak $582, Mobissimo $582, Qixo $622.67, Sidestep $582, Super Search $598.40

Travelocity $598.40, Expedia $622.68, Orbitz - not permitted, Onetravel $627.72

London to Paris roundtrip - July 9-16, 2005
Aggregator fares: Cheapflights $152.60, Farechase $116.37, Kayak $106.37, Mobissimo $116.37, Qixo $131.37, Sidestep $116.37, Super Search - not permitted

Travelocity $152.60, Expedia $111.37, Orbitz - not permitted, Onetravel $116.37

Based on the above itineraries, looks like the aggregators have it...
