Dog Smuggling!
- About 25 years ago I went to the Soviet Union on a tour. Of course, there was only one airline we could fly. I thought our inbound flight was bad until it was time to leave. Not only did we have an emergency diversion on our final approach to Rome - we were sent to Zagreb, which is nowhere close - the food on the flight was a chilled, baked 1/4 chicken and a roll, the seat rows were so close together that I couldn't put my feet on the floor, and six members of our tour group turned out to be dog smugglers. Yes, they'd drugged puppies and hidden them in their tour company flight bags...but they hadn't planned for our scheduled stop in Bucharest (they couldn't read the Cyrillic alphabet) or our unscheduled time to/from/in Zagreb. Of course, the puppies woke up...and they weren't housebroken. It was not pretty. Then, when we got to Rome, one of the non-American members of our tour group tried to stow away on our bus...which was headed to a U.S. Navy base...we had to shove him off.

a ruin trip becuase of us airway
- I had the worst nightmare ever! I book 6 continues flight in my 1 week vacation with us airway, i took 1st flight and my luggage was lost and delayed. and the 2nd flight is late for 2 hour ! and then i decide to drive to my destination . after i arrive at 3rd flight. theyh told me simply because i skip a flight. they cancel all of our flight without any refund or replacement. they told me unless i drive back to my 2nd destination and wait for another day to catch the next flight to start over again . it sounds just really really crazy and does not make any sense . i try to call talk to a manager after a manager they insist i pay a 1000 dollar penatly . which is price for all 6 flight. they cancel all my flight and lie to me on the customer service phone. me and my bf sit at airport and they wont' let us go on our flight . they wont refund anything or let us get on any flight. we have to sit at the aiport and use our laptop to get ticket with another airline to move on for our trip and

Jamaica Airliner Crash Part II
- a) not going to an alternate airport given conditions at primary b) having proceeded to primary not asking to land from the east. c) having proceeded downwind failing to abort the approach and or landing prior to touchdown d) having proceeded downwind having misjudged the point of landing and not maintaining proper glide slope, approach speeds and touchdown point. To all the pilots I ask for your comments

Jamaica Airliner Crash Part I
- AA Jamaica crash: Although I am aware that it is irresponsible to speculate on a cause before all the facts are know, I do however feel that, at least on forums like this one, it is ok to speculate based on known facts. Here is what's known. 1) 15Kt. winds out of NNE. 2) Heavy rain at night on a non-grooved runway. 3) Pilots near the end of their 12-hour max. on-duty time. 4) Plane fully loaded with passengers and probably heavier on fuel than domestic flights. 5) Pilots had not flown much in previous weeks. 6) Plane touched down very far down runway 12. 7) Plane landed hard. Based on what’s known I think you can make the following deductions. I believe the tail winds played a very significant role in this crash. Ground speeds would have been 20-30Kts fast than pilots are used to. This along with a nighttime wet runway would have made it easy to misjudge the point of touchdown. Glide slope would have been kept in check on approach but near the ground pilots take over and visually fly t

American Air makes my mother cry
- My tiny, elderly mother was flying alone today on American, and a flight attendant refused to help her stow her 20 lb carry-on. My mother is too short to reach the overhead and so couldn't stow it herself. The woman was so rude and even abusive that she made my mother cry. Who is mean like that to a kindly grandmother?

American airlines is horrible!
- This letter is to express my disguist with the horrific service of American Airlines . My husband and I looked forward to our long awaited honeymoon and was supposed to be one of the most memorable experiences of our lives. Thanks to the uncaring and rude reoresenatives at the ticket counter at McCarren airport in las vegas we endured one of the worst travel and service experiences we've ever encountered and our honeymoon plans were ruined. Monday october26th we arrived 2 hours prior to our flight which was more than sufficient time and yes there was plenty of staff on duty! Upon our arrival, the check in counter was in complete disaray ,sloppy and no appearent lines were formed by any waiting customers. My husband asked the AA represenative who seemed to be attempting to direct people to form a line where we should go. she directed us to the right of the counter for assistance and pointed for us to go over there. Following her advisement we waited for 20 minutes to reach the counte

worst flight experience
- Flying into Las Vegas last Christmas night. We hit a very strong local storm as we were making our final approach. The aircraft was being tossed around so badly that it sounded and felt like we were on a very old carnival ride that was about to fall apart. It felt and sounded like the plane was hitting solid walls as it literally bounced from side-to-side and up-and-down. I feared that if we tried to land like this the plane would surely cartwheel on the runway. There was no way we would make it. Then about 20 seconds before touchdown (no exaggeration) everything calmed down and we landed. The plane literally exploded with applause! Out of almost a thousand skydives and 30 or so commercial flights this is the only time I have ever been scared. I now understand why John Madden rides a bus instead of flies...

The Press OK from Hell
- One November, I flew BDL to CLE to do a press OK at a printing company. It was to be a day trip, out AM, home by dinner. But the press broke down and a part had to come from Germany. Since they didn't know when it would show up, they asked me to stay... no clothes, luggage, nothing. It took 4 days! I had to race to the airport in snow to get a flight out. But a car wreck had knocked down the exit sign so I missed my exit ... and my flight. When I got a later flight, it was diverted to PIT by weather, which had snowed in the entire East Coast. It was also Thanksgiving weekend. The terminal at PIT was a scene from hell... thousands stranded, screaming, crying babies. Finally made it to BDL at 3 AM to find all the rental car counters closed... except Hertz, which ran 24 hours. I could have kissed the kid in the yellow jacket. Finally made it home at 4 AM... nearly 5 days after I left on my "day trip". So ended the press ok from hell.

US Air and flying with kids
- I stopped flying US Air several years ago, so maybe they've improved. I was commuting on a weekly basis, and I'd get to the airport and wait for the delays and lies. Your airline is at the gate, your airline is coming in soon, your airline is delayed -- then oops, your flight is canceled. Try back tomorrow morning. But the worst flight I ever took was with my two boys, age 1 and 4, flying from SF to NY. The one year old was a handful and by the time we were 4 hours into the flight and they served the meal, I was so exhausted that I just watched while he drooped the peas from the meal into the space that held the tray table (bulkhead seats). I felt terrible about the poor person who would eventually have to clean out the compartment, but I would have done ANYTHING for the 10 minutes of peace that it bought me.
